Wavefront imaging company, Iatia (ASX:IAT) has successfully completed the twelfth milestone for its $2.7 million Capability and Technology Demonstrator (CTD) contract with the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO). The payment of $588,000 for the twelfth milestone was received in July 2008.
Completion of the contract and the final payment of $148,500 occurs with the submission of a final report at the end of the year.
The Iatia team travelled to Canberra where Iatia’s Chief Scientific Officer, Dr Brendan Allman gave a presentation outlining the work that was done under the CTD contract. This was followed by a successful field demonstration of the camera system.
Over twenty attendees were present, representing the DSTO, the Army, various government departments and several major international defence corporations, one of which had flown to Australia especially for Iatia’s demonstration and discussions.
Iatia’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Charles Laycock said: “We are delighted at the response and extremely pleased to have completed the twelfth and final technical milestone. I’d like to thank everyone on the team for their hard work and dedication throughout this three year project.
“We are now approaching another exciting time at Iatia as we look to partner with an international defence contractor in order to facilitate the next stage of Federal Government funding. Discussions with a number of suitable candidates are already on the way.”
Dr Allman is visiting a USA headquartered international defence company in September 2008 to discuss opportunities. In October, Dr Allman will be presenting a paper at the Land Warfare Conference in Brisbane concentrating on the technology’s capabilities and potential applications to a local and international audience of Defence personnel, scientists and companies.
