On Thursday 9th March, phase imaging company Iatia Limited (ASX:IAT) won the Australian Technology Showcase Patrons Award, which recognises Iatia as an Australian leader in advanced technology. The award was presented by John Landy, Governor of Victoria, AC MBE and accepting on behalf of Iatia was Chief Executive Officer, Charles Laycock and Scientific Director, Professor Keith Nugent.
The Australian Technology Showcase (ATS) held at Telstra Dome was opened by the Minister for Innovation, John Brumby MP. It is designed to promote leading edge Australian innovative technologies on the world stage and assist Australian innovators to win international recognition and business.
Supported by many Australian public and private sector organisations, the ATS presents member technologies professionally to likely business partners and markets around the world. This secures benefits for member companies and, more broadly, for industry in Australia.
The ATS is recognised and supported by the Commonwealth Government, through AusIndustry and Austrade, the Governments of New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory and Western Australia and patrons.
The ATS aims to encourage exports and increase employment by promoting member technologies on the domestic and international markets.
Charles Laycock, stated, "We are thrilled with this unexpected award. It could not come at a more opportune time as doors are beginning to open in the overseas markets and any assistance that can facilitate our entry into global markets is most welcome."
Amongst other awards, in 2002 Iatia won the prestigious international R&D 100 award, and was the only Australian company to do so that year. Other winners in the same year included BP, IBM and NASA. Iatia has positioned themselves as the forefront developer of Quantitative Phase Imaging (QPI) solutions for visualisation and wavefront sensing.
